The Best Day of My Life

Today was the best day of my life.

It wasn't that there was anything special. I wasn't at the beach, it's not my birthday, I didn't win the lottery, nor did I suddenly realize the secrets of the universe.

I woke up, washed up, had breakfast, started working, muddied through parts of work that was new and unfamiliar, groaned, bought an audio book, had some cake, answered emails, went to the gym, came home, and had dinner.

And yet, there was a flow and lightness to it in the ebb and flow. A simple and natural acceptance that ascended into wonder and fulfillment for everything that happens.

I woke up comfortably not-too-early and not-too-late in the morning

Got my coffee and waffles

Worked in my apartment surrounded by plans and designs

Emailed clients who I love and enjoy

Got two marketing calls, one of them obnoxious

Cancelled my workshop reservation at Esalen

Travel agent called and confirmed my trip to Paris

Had a nice walk on the treadmill

Bought hair clips and a desk lamp at Target

Had TJ's salad, potato chips, and spring rolls for dinner

None of these are cause for excitement. Yet the happening of them was experienced openly without too many stories and too much commentary. What bliss.

Today was the best day of my life, because I saw that it was.
