Learning To Die, Br. David Steindl-Rast

Winter is a season that ushers death, and with it, new life.

As I read Brother David Steindl-Rast's writing on Learning To Die, I feel a sense of release in contemplating the difference between dying and giving myself over to death, actively.

Meaning, when the universe closes one door, am I frantically pulling on the door that closed behind me, or am I giving myself to the new door that is open before me? The act of giving myself to the unknown can feel sacrificial, yet it is the catalyst for truly embracing the present.

"In learning to give ourselves we learn both to live and to die - to die not only our final death, but those many deaths of daily living by which we become more alive." - Br. David Steindl-Rast

Lightness and Joy to all.
